S4 XL Hunter Folding Swedish Frying Pan

The Hunter Frying Pan S4, is the largest in Stabilotherm's series of classic campfire pans. The generous size makes it a favorite when several hungry mouths need to be fed. Despite its size, it’s easy to bring along, thanks to the folding handle. This model is equipped with a folding shaft and a handle made of birch, which makes it extra comfortable to hold.

Stabilotherm's "Jägarstekpannor" is manufactured in Sweden from carbon steel. Perfect for campfire use since the material withstands high temperatures. The more you use your pan, the better frying properties it will have. The inspiration for the Jägarstekpannor goes way back and comes from the old Nordic dish called “kolbulle”. It was prepared in a frying pan by navvies, loggers, coal workers and other workmen who toiled long periods without access to fresh ingredients. This frying pan began to be manufactured in Småland in the 1980s and is today a valued tool among hunters, fishermen and outdoorsmen.

How to season your pan:
Now it’s time to season your new frying pan, to help ensure a non-stick surface. Oil the pan with a thin layer of cooking oil over the entire pan.

Place the frying pan straight into the fire. Leave it there until the oil starts to smoke and change color. Repeat the procedure 3-5 times.

If the pan starts to get dry, apply another thin layer of oil.

A seasoned pan turns brownish black, often lighter at the edges. Over time, it will get darker and more beautiful.
